The Xabesha's new dam

Yeah Egypt would have air superiority and be able to completely destroy that in minutes. I’m sure that they’d prefer regime change instead of keep bombing ethiopia.

im listening to eritreans that there is a theory of eritrea going to assist sudan army against rsf for a later conflict later, sudans anti drone tech where tigray fighting is happening + egypt airspace control. might be propaganda though
Egypt is really weird honestly, I think they've always been way weaker than they seem to be, they couldve also helped in 77 but didnt

here are the issues they’re having coming to an agreement i’ve been seeing.

for example Ethiopia has rejected all
mitigation measures for droughts and prolonged droughts and measures to address prolonged dry years

here is the main contentions:
An Egyptian government source speaking to Mada Masr on condition of anonymity at the time said that there are three terms on which Egypt would not “under any circumstances” compromise: an agreed minimum amount of water Ethiopia would have to release annually, legally-binding measures for mitigation and dispute resolution and a final document that does not imply any permanent concession from Egypt on its water rights. A consultant to the negotiations said that Ethiopia was also insisting on a water share — a term to which they said Egypt would never agree.

The deal Ethiopian proposition does screw Egypt during drought periods, but Egypts proposition also screws Ethiopia during droughts too (and most likely Somalia in the long run)

not only are they antagonising neighbours, they are giving the states institutions existential crises. But i would not be super worried about ethiopia cutting water off, it brings nothing but bluffing each other.

Abyi is either a genius or the most incompetent leader. we’ll see how it plays out in the few years coming.

Yeah. The Ramla story made me realise Qabilism is much worse than I thought
Its called qabyalaad
I think I can see balkanisation helping the north temporarily but I don't think it would make that much of a difference in the long term
In the long term, it would definitely help, and anyone who denies this is a jealous hypocrite.

Koonfur is the single region holding all Somalis back.

Theoretically, if Puntland and Somaliland were recognized as independent states tomorrow, we wouldn’t have to worry about the chaos in the south and could instead focus on our own development and opportunities.

But instead, we are chained to the most corrupt and shameful government in the world, which literally only exists because of foreign powers, what has this 2 decades old stalemate done for us ? What could've we done in those 20 years if we weren't politically reliant on the south ?

Just have a look at this map, it looks more like a city state than a country, ironically enough the terrorist group owns more lands and is less corrupt, what a joke

Hypothetically speaking, no one disagrees that a unified country would be ideal, but that’s only in theory. The reality on the ground is far worse and much uglier

The corrupt generals turned Egypt into a borderline banana state with no agency. Whatever Baba america or the uae says goes.

Egypt had multiple chances during Trump’s first term but they chickened out. Now the dam is a reality and destroying it would flood the homes and farms of tens of millions in Sudan and southern Egypt.

Ethiopia can and will build more dams for electricity. Egyptian elites did this to themselves.

Not our problem honestly but since the lunatic in Addis is openly threatening to annex parts of Somalia and Eritrea, I don’t see why the two(+ djbouti in the future) countries shouldn’t form a long term security pact with Cairo. Something like a mini-NATO.
