The Somali Language is so fascinating

Certain Somalis will see this and then continue to push this traitorous filth that we are from Arabs despite having a language that predates theirs and no similarity other than religion and slight cultural customs.

Somali Language is truly a gem and I do truly hope that a lot of money is spent continue to develop and polish it.

"Pre-dates" where did u get that from? And they can have similarities since both languages are of afro-asiatic roots
Sxb modern Arabic was created in the 19th century lol (they made a new dialect and made that the official one instead of finding a existing dialect and making that official)

What is referred to as msa is the standardised version of arabic based off of literary classical arabic and they are both fusxa. Its like having the literary somali of old and the standardised version by siyaad bare and saying they are different languages Obviously they arent just one is adapted to the modern day and another sticks to traditional sensibilities. Both msa and modern somali use loanwords for functionality and both classical arabic and classical somali have their own weirdnesses that were toned down in standardisation as can be seen in poety

Saying they made a new dialect implies the clasical arabic it was based off was lost to time when it clearly wasnt and its mutually inteliigble with msa

How do people measure the age of a oral language :cosbyhmm:
I truly wonder if a person mentioned "Arabic is older than Somali orally" would you stand up and ask the question you just did?

Deadweight like this that become xoolo with no eyes when any kind of shisheeye is mentioned but swear Somalis are lifted in the same light then they'll fight tooth and nail to deny or to attribute it to elsewhere.

Im not denying it im just curious how they get to a conclusion in the first place. Because the ancient somalis didnt write anything

Basically it's based off comparing diffrent lamaguges to see how similar they are. They have all these written semetic lanaguges which they see evolving over time. So theh have a sort of rough estimate of how old proto semetic might be. Af-somali and the other eastern cushtic lanaguges share far less in common than a lot of these semetic lanaguges. So they can sort of tell that these lanaguges must have diverged off from each other a long time ago.
