Still ugly as hell though. That flag isn't even fit enough to lace the boots of the beautiful Somali flag. The Somali flag is very beautiful and simplistic. The colour combo of the Somaliland flag is ugly and why have writing in your flag? At least if you going to have writing make it the language of the country not some foreign language.

Which flag is more beautiful the PL flag or the SL flag? Put your hatred for Majeerteens aside. Be honest.

I don't hate majeerteen, I have lots of MJ friends.

Both flags are an abomination but the Somaliland flag is slightly uglier. But don't celebrate just yet:whoa:

Puntland flag is also ugly.

You simpleton! Dude, you should've ignored this thread and left them to their own devices. Now we're going to get a 100 page Somaliland calacal thread.

My friends, it's all in the context. Like other tricolour standards of a similar colour scheme (Italy, Iran, Mexico, Hungary etc.), there's a common theme behind each colour as follows:-

Red: blood, war, and revolution. The indiscriminate cleansing of our people and the struggles to free ourselves from tyranny relates well with the red.

White: reconciliation and peace. The first homegrown/indigenous peace conferences post-civil war began in Somaliland and included all groups/clans. Most notable were the Berbera, Burco, and Borama peace conferences of 1991-1993.

Green: looking into the future/seeking greener pastures. Progress and development is the only way up.

As for the black star, that symbolises the death of the Greater Somalia project (Somaliweyn) since Somaliland is no longer a part of Somalia.

Regardless of how 'ugly' it looks to some, there is a meaning behind the flag.

Maybe that was my intention :lolbron:

I am sorry guys, but in terms of beauty Somalilands flag wins without competition..

Look at somalias flag when it's celebrated by public people and Somalilands flag..

There is so much colour red green white with green and red taking centre stage..

For me it beats the Puntland flag by having the red, it's more outstanding and more recognisable...

Somalias flag is too simple and too booting but has historical significance
