Instead of having a single centralized government bound to favour certain clans over others, why don't we have separate regional governments responsible for education, healthcare, etc.? And a federal government concerned solely with internal disputes and foreign affairs??? Seems like a pretty great and simplistic idea to me. Why can't it be implemented?

How so? Immigration will also be federally regulated, however the economy wouldn't be. National defense must be a federal government policy. How else could it be handled? If any one of the four are favouritized there will be dissent. And as for the president, there could be a cycle each term selecting one from each of the major clans. That's about as fair as it gets. Corruption is a whole different issue though.

Rules do work in Somalia. Only now the rules are being written by politicians who bought their way into office. They have a financial incentive to maintain the status quo.

Parliamentarians should not be allowed to work in our ministries. They should do their jobs and hold the government accountable for their actions.

I don’t want to sound horrible or what. But a strict government is needed that is going to ban tribalism. No one will work together that way, they’ll still be ik each other’s bodies and will still try to use dirty tricks.

How is that a bad idea? Somalis love clanism and will never let go of it. Time to move on. We have wasted 30 years. ENOUGH ALREADY!!

Federalism requires a certain level of IQ. Unfortunately, most of the so called “states” in Somalia operate out of hotel rooms in Mogadishu. The IQ level isn’t there for most of the so called country.
