The Role of the Muslim Apologist
By Bassam ZawadiThe Muslim apologist must understand that one of his primary jobs is not to make the kuffar like everything about Islam. It will very likely be that many kuffar will have an accurate understanding of what Islam teaches about a particular subject and still hate that aspect of Islam. Rather, one of the primary duties of the Muslim apologist is to ensure that the kafir is not hating aspects of Islam due to a misunderstanding on that kafir’s part.
For example, a kafir may have a faulty understanding of how the Islamic hudud are to be applied. The apologist must clarify the conditions under which hudud are to be applied and not to go ahead and do something as intellectually dishonest as denying the 21st-century applicability of the hudud altogether.
The apologist must remove misconceptions, not instill new ones into the people's minds.
