The rise of robotic surgery !

It'll make surgery more precise and easier, but doctors won't be gone anytime soon. People don't realize that 40% of the job of being a Doctor is communicational skills, Robots won't get to that level of communication any time soon. Also, can a robot emphasize with a human in the way other humans can? Would you want a sick relative's life in the hands of cold, hard machinery? The biggest blow will be to Radiographers and pharmacists, those guys are....well, fucked.

Some of us drunk the Hollywood koolaid about AI. Question for you, why do you think a pharmacist and radiolgy tehcnitians can be replaced by an automated machine?

The job of a Radiographer is literally looking at scans and checking what's wrong with it. Fair play to them as they can tell the most minor defects from 1 image and be right 96% of the time, which is pretty amazing right? Well, AI can do what a radiographer does in half the time whilst being 98% accurate instead. Obviously, radiographers won't just die out but they'll be hit the hardest out of any medical specialty. Literally nobody in my class wants to specialize as a Radiographer, which when you see how good the pay and hours are compared to other specialties, says a lot about its future. Though they are exposed to higher rates of cancer....

Same applies to pharmacy, drugs can be dispensed and sorted by machinery faster

@ZakWantsToPlay no bro it’s not just info manually plugged in, it can access data off the World Wide Web and that’s enough data needed, especiallly to replace doctors in the future, heck half of these doctors read webmd anyways

Right bro. Data input does not necessarily mean manual input. You can download data onto an AI system for it to analyse and learn patterns out of the data. A task the AI system can do faster and better than a human being. Remember that the main factor in AI being better than humans is the ability to do calculations at high speeds. With that said, the system relies on these human input data irrespective of how that is done. That was my point. Thanks for the correction.

For the AI systems to perform perfect and do the task without failures, you need relevant human experts to guide the system.

I read an arrticle that details how an AI system can fail without human expertise in the AI's expected field of work.

- If you plan a machine learning without data scientist, it will fail
- If you start without good data relevant in the AI work, it will fail
- If you start with insufficient structure for machine learning, you will fail
- If you implement machine learning without strategy, it will fail
- If you don't have tradtional approach to solving problems combined with the AI machine learning, you will fail. This is a little harder to explain without reading the details of what the problem is. But they suggest in the article to use Hybrid system that has both AI and traditional system of solving problems.

Like I said in the future the plan is for other AI to take these data scientists jobs and even programming jobs, this will in the future guide the system

But then a pharmacist and a RT must be on hand to explain the AI analysis to a patient. It is one thing to do things faster and save time, it is another to communicate with a human being at a human level. Human to AI interaction is improving and machines are learning to read human emotion, and undertand human languages, but an AI system will never achieve that human capability to replace another human at every level. Machines and robots are good at work taught to them by humans and do excell in their work by learning things on their own based on algorithm, but it always stops at where a machine needs to communicate issues to another human.

I love techonologies and am a fan, but I do not have that firm conviction ai systems will replace human beings for all work. Even where robots replaced human beings, humans still maintain and help these work robots.

You do know voice recognition and search mechanisms are already there right? See Siri, they can easily communicate

There is human aspect to data science which can not be done by an AI system no matter the year. In 2070, where everything is digitized, a human data scientist will be needed. Machines will have to be built by humans. These machines will be taught how to function and work. Humans will always remain the masters of their universe over machines and otehr animals. And in the event that some sophisticated nanomachines built by human beings go haywire and start doing what they weren't supposed to due to virus and human corruption(intentionally setting in place something nefarious in these self-learning machines), it will be humans who deactivate them and annihilate these robots.

At no time in technological advancement will the human be replaced completely. This universe is built to be managed by human beings and nothing but a human has the last say.

There are philosophical problems with AI and accountability with surgical error created by a breach in cybersecurity or a direct malfunction in sensory functions, and there must be a doctor present and certain technical specialists that safeguard the patient under operation. European car manufacturers only produce cars with 'driver assistance.'

Americans put too much trust in silicon valley fantasies. There is hype to sell to the masses to keep the money coming in.

Hollywood version of ai is different from real life ai work.
