You don't attack who has a controlling interest in your khawarij group, same reason why foreign troops are rarely targetted by the cowards while Somali Uni students in ice cream shops are.

the same way ISIS or al-queda groups attack every country in the levant except for israel.:yousmart:
although Ethiopia isn't providing arms or medical aid to shabaab.

Conspiracy aside they don't attack Ethiopia mainly because they can't.

Military roadstops every 10 meters and the local government knows who comes in and out.

Anyone sheltering unregistered people get arrested.

If you seem suspicious in anyway there are millions of beggars who would line up to snitch on you just for a day's meal.

We could do all that in Somalia and use the same infrastructure to collect more tax revenue while making it safe for commerce.

Probably a gentlemans agreement between them. They cant get to Ethiopia with the buffer Somali state in the way anyways.

Liyu is too efficient at rooting out local insurgents, they play dirty. Its like if IS tried gaining ground in south Somalia AS would somehow be able to eradicate them but the SNA cant why is that?

The issue is lack of trust in government institutions. Let's suppose a civilian reports an AS member to the local police and the police station has AS members uncover.

What would happen to the civilian ? They are said to have great intelligence networks and unless this is destroyed people will keep their mouths shut to stay alive.

Were the 600+ killed in Zoobe junction also just diplomats and NGOs?
Lot of senior officials got killed in the attack, but obviously not worth killing all those civilians imo. This topic is tough because it’s impossible to put a value on the life of a citizen when targetting a government official. Hopefully they can lower their collateral damage footprint moving forward.

In Somalia the feds have no bite because they have no reach. They barely leave their compounds.

Imagine if just half of the 10,000+ soldiers in SNA were split up into groups of 20; with each group manning a 5 mile route. That covers 60,000 mile stretch. Pretty much all of Somalia.

We'd have all the ways to get in an out of settled areas blocked and even if AS sticks to the bushes they'll need supplies which nomads can't fully cover.

The feds also accurately track the economic activity in those regions and are able to generate more tax revenues. Just $1 per capita per month in taxes would cover the costs of the operation (2 cents per day per person).

With no AS around people would be able to earn more.

The Somali region is heavily militarized so unless Addis grants them permission which isn't impossible it wouldn't be the most efficient route.

Also where would they come from? Oromo AS? Ethiopians aren't as brain dead as Kenyans and Ugandans to act as cannon fodder.
