I think @durwa wants to keep his wealth within the family. And cousin marriages would accomplish that but at what cost. I don't know if genetic testing and prenatal screening can detect all possible birth defects right now. Maybe as genetic testing and prenatal screening become more advanced cousin marriage can become an actual thing who knows.

I was looking at the likelihood of defects and its about x2 more , but because of successive first cousin marriages the likelihood is 1/4. Very sad stuff

Not true , it 2-3pct normally and 5pct for first cousin marriage even without successive marriages beforehand. If your family are all first cousins going back several generations , then the risk is exponentially higher.

The cons significantly outweigh the pros. If you know that inbreeding greatly increases the chances of your offspring inheriting genetic diseases (vision/hearing loss, limb malformations, mental issues. etc.), why make that unnecessary gamble?
