Sites like Upwork and others have made it very easy to get crucial assignments/coursework done for like $100/200. It's even worse now that exams can be taken remotely.

It used to be ch*nk and other international students doing this shit but now it's damn near everyone. Universities can't be this out of touch, surely now?

I'm guessing some universities know this sort of shit goes on but turn a blind eye due to the sweet ch*nk Yuan they're raking in every term lol.
The problem's only going to get worse unless they breaks modules up into like 90% exam, 10% assignments.

Are degrees on their way to becoming toilet paper or am I just overeating?

Everyone and their nan's cheating sxb, it's fucking rampant. If a pieces of coursework is worth 50% of the module, all you need to do is pay someone to get you 90% on the coursework, that way you can get 40% on the exam itself, but the two parts of the module are combined so you can walk out with a avg grade of 60%+ lol. It's so retarted wallahi.

It depends on how demanding your degree is. Having a social life can become damn near impossible, some people aren't willing to make that sacrifice
