The Power Of Psychological Warfare

An early account of psychological war tactics being implemented by an organised Army was during the Battle of Pelusium (525 BC); the decisive battle between Achaemenid Persia & Egypt. The clever Persians were knowledgeable of Egyptian deities & knew the Egyptians revered Cats in their Mythology (Egyptian Religion), since the Egyptians worshipped the Cat Goddess Bastet.

Therefore, the Persians utilised a clever strategy of throwing Cats at the Egyptians whilst on Horseback & the Egyptians did not dare to shoot their arrows for fear of harming the Cats. As a result, this over-zealous love for Cats costed the Egyptians their sovereignty/independence and enabled the Persians to win the battle to conquer Egypt.
