The past Somali generations

Do you guys ever wonder, were they tight-knit or as divided as we are today?
And by divided I mean qabiil issues and gender divisions similar to what we are facing today.. How do you guys think the past Somalis were like?

The gender issue is only a problem in the diaspora (so far) purely because it's exacerbated in a multicultural society. So no.

Qabiliism yes, but I don't think in the modern sense. None of us have truly felt qabiil because it's obsolete in the diaspora. Qabiil = family. People have always clashed with their neighbours. Whether on a national, ethnic or clan level. Individuals were too far isolated and not engaged enough with other clans for it to occupy their minds and create this perpetually bitter and visceral hatred.

I see..
Do you think in the future the diaspora Somalis eventually will disappear/assimilate into their different countries in the west? Also could some of the culture change in the diaspora spild over to people back home in future?

There such thing a somali or tribe
I am respectfull

There was somalinimo
I was in Somalia for two years
There isint this level of qabyaalad there and they definitely don’t have gender issues or victimhood

Isn't it the same in Somalia as well?
Galkcayo is quiet bad but I think they have a temper issue there
My aunts kids got into a fight with the neighbours one time my aunt came out with a pistoolad
They’re just very hot headed
You can’t live in mudug without being a little crazy
They don’t even believe in rape over there
Apparently you should be able to defend yourself from one man, if it’s a group of men apparently it’s more understandable
But there’s no cuqdad everyone moves on from it
Hadaa shalay la is dagaalay maanta waa nabad
Belo ma jido hadu jiro ma balaarno

I have no idea, and I suppose it depends on what you mean by assimilate. Lose the language and culture? Inevitably, but I don't think that's necessarily a good or bad thing. Religion? I think Somalis as a collective will remain Muslim. We'll never mesh with Western cultures in the way certain other migrant groups do.

And no. As access to internet and tech increases, millions of young Somali people will join the connected world and develop their own sub-culture. They'll drown out any cultural direction from the diaspora.
