The only hope for Somalia's unity

South Sudan didn't join North Sudan in a union so the cases are not even legally similar let alone comparable. SSC controls 1 border town in Somaliland half of which is in Ethiopia. Even Somalia doesn't take them seriously so why would the world :dead:. Even though your line of thinking here is flawed if I used the same analogy for Somaliland of SSC causing a war similar to south sudan, it would be far worse than your analogy for the IC to force Somaliland back into a union with Somalia than SSC leaving with Somaliland while SSC only controls a small town vs Somaliland actually having a full government, army, economy and controls almost all its claimed territory. That's why the international community is mediating between Somalia and Somaliland, not puntland not SSC not Maakhir etc who they dont see as stakeholders in the formation or dissolution of the union. Policy advisors in the USA had a discussion about all of this over a year ago regarding Somalia/Somaliland and South Yemen and North yemen. They concluded that they need to change their approach in these regions. That's what we're seeing unfold in these meetings. The world is tired of giving billions in aid, billions in development and billions in security and not having anything change
30 years no recognition.
Honestly the period between 2000 and 2012ish was the best time for you guys to get recognized. Somalia is a mess but it's in much better shape now than it was 10 or 15 years ago. What makes u think the international community will recognize SL now? Somaliland had a much stronger case before 2012 when somala was still in anarchy.

Thinking of this as an actual legal case will get you nowhere giving you recognition would have the same result. SSC is not buuhodle it is the pro SL admin at current if they decide to rip off tomorrow their is nothing Somaliland can do but fight you do not control these areas they are just allied to you this is a very flimsy relationship and would likely dissolve if you came close to ictiraaf.

Why would they negotiate with ‘SSC’ when SSC claims Somaliland currently? Why would they negotiate with Puntland when its just a state of Somalia? :ayaanswag:

The IC is not forcing you ‘back’ anywhere they are just not going to let you down the route of nationhood why should they it works as great leverage over Somalia and it has little to no benefits to recognize them. Somaliland brings nothing new to the table and don’t tell me about oil or gold :noneck:

Anyways why would a Dir be so concerned with Somaliland have you been legitimized by @Kezira ?:cosbyhmm:

So now the disgruntled SSC is entertaining SL for the time being and burning Farmaajos picture and Somalias flag during the conference which could decide their future to show their hate for SL Independence :mjlol:

I'm dir and my subclan lives on both sides of the border also my maternal relatives are landers. Besides theres 10 threads a day about Somaliland why not comment. The real question is why Is a guy from dhaanto land so invested in being against Somaliland and pro ssc. Unless it's just good old cuqdad :ohreally:

We will see what happens in the upcoming talks. But one thing for sure is that Somalia is not giving up economic control of SL and airspace out of it's own will:russsmug:

This should be done in the South before trying in Somaliland.

Can Somalia make agreements with third countries about exporting agricultural products like bananas or meat?

For example, Turkey imports bananas from Latin America. Can Somalia airlift bananas to Turkey at a competitive rate?

Somalia was the biggest exporter of bananas to Italy during the 1930s.
