The Mysterious Part-Time Pastoralists of the Awash River

There was a group of Local Hunter-Gatherers (?) who adopted pastoralism as a secondary source of food with fishing being their main source of sustenance.

They adopted pastoralism after the end of the African Humid period around 2000BCE ( 4000 years ago) being complete hunter-gatherers previously.

This seems to have been introduced by South Cushitic like people who inhabited Northern Somalia before the end of the AHP.

Interestingly, this group had their own distinctive pottery and had connections with Ancient Yemen long before any Yemeni Migrations into the horn.

I think this group may have been pastoralist admixed? And some Northern Somalis may carry admixture from this group.

Could that population be rich in Mota-like aDNA ?

It seems like northern somalis (at least the ones on anthrogenica) have a greater affinity with Mota, and just like Afars we know that for them mixing with peoples rich in Mota-like DNA was very unlikely. Some have suggested they might be of basal eurasian stock as (some claim) Northern Somalis are also between 0.5 to 1% more eurasian than other somalis ?

I think we can all agree that any admixture into somalis was very minor anyways.

How is it possible for South Cushites to be in Northern Somalia as late as 2000BCE? Where were the East Cushitic ancestors of Somalis at this time?

The ancestors of Somalis were migrating down the Ahmar mountains and probably arrived in Southern Ethiopia.

Somalia was more green until 2000BCE which probably forced these pastoralists to leave and migrate West creating these people.
