The Somali embassy in Cairo sent a letter of protest to the foreign ministry of the government of Egypt.
Egypt responded with “We have allowed you to have diplomatic representation in this country although we recognize that your rule does not extend beyond the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu. It is futile for Villa Somalia to ask us not to deal with the government of Somaliland. Your jurisdiction does not encompass that whole region. For all practical purposes Somaliland is chartering it is own path”.
