I seen a very threads on this site about a year ago in regards to the Moors. The Moors were black Africans who were called Berbers. Many black African groups were called Berbers including my Somali brethren.
The confusion comes from European cacs calling anybody they thought had black blood a Moor. Just like in America, a person could be 70% percent white and they will still call em a Negro. Remember they called the Italians by the name "Guineas" cuz they were darker than many Nordic whites or thought to have black blood.
The one drop rule originates with the Moors and other groups in Spain. See blue blood.

A manuscript of the Battle of Teba made about 100 years after the battle took place in 1330. The Nasrids still used African muslims from the continent to fight in their wars. This makes sense considering the nearest muslims were in Africa not Syria, Persia or Arabia.
