The Roman Catholic Cathedral in Mogadishu was beautiful in it’s own way, it could have been converted to a mosque like the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul.
I don’t understand why they destroyed it,you don’t have to destroy everything you don’t like.

I agree that it could've been transformed into a beautiful Masjid, since it was already very beautiful as a cathedral. Shame some folks back home are plain idiots.

I’ve visited the Hagia Sophia and it was absolutely stunning. The mix of Byzantine and Islamic cultures has created one of the most beautiful mosques in the world. The Turks who lived in the 1400s have more sense than modern Somalis back home do.

Because it was a symbol of colonial rule, and truthfully I’m glad it’s gone. We can build new masjids without any colonial influence.
