a better indicator is gdp per capita. these niggas main exports are minerals and petroleum and they only get a 100 more then us. They should be giants in the african content living like kings. i’m happy we are at this level with our main export being livestock alhamdulilah were not congolese as we havnt even exported any natural resources

Factor in the population of both countries, Congo is sitting at almost 100 million, whereas Somalia is at like 15-17 million. Gdp per capita uses the total population to gauge how many times the national gdp figure can be divided between each person on the country.

A smaller country has a better chance handling gdp per capita because there’s not much people to break all the bread with so if anything Somalia should be performing better than Congo in this regard, that’s why the top 3-5 countries with the highest gdp per capita are all countries with a smaller population than Somalias at around mostly 5/6 million people

it needs to be updated and put on google their still using 2021 stats somalia isn’t in the top 10 poorest nations anynore
Yea google is wrong we beat DRC’s GDP per capita by $40 and this is before we start doing any large scale resource extraction

Somalia: https://www.imf.org/external/datamapper/profile/SOM
DRC: https://www.imf.org/external/datamapper/profile/COD

They’re extracting every natural resource known to man yet they’re still loosing to a bunch of geeljires selling livestock to the Middle East 😂😂😂

Being rich in resources and with a large population is a curse but being VERY rich and wealthy possibly the wealthiest in resources and with a large population is a death sentence.

The people of the DRC will always be oppressed as long as they have corrupt leaders who put the love of money before the love of their country

Doesn't matter even if they have a good leader they are still f#cked because the world and many corporations won't let them rise or even nationalise anything or else they would instantly become the richest country in the world and possibly crash the world economy that's why unlike us Somalia and certain other nations are in a temporary bad state and they can rebuild and the world won't care but Congo is doomed and it's imperative for the world powers and corporations to ensure they are kept down, they will sadly be in a perpetual cycle of violence and poverty influenced by external powers forever.

Nah bro they have a population of over 100M. No country would be able to stop them if they were united and fought back. Until they fight for what is rightfully theirs, they’ll always be oppressed

Bro only Allah can stop 110M+ people that are united. These people suffer because they’re not a united force that’s fighting back. You saw how the Taliban retook their country. I don’t support them but they’re an example of what a group can do if they’re willing to fight. Congo has a MUCH bigger population. If even 10M (10% of the country) pick arms to fight no way the corporations will be able to stop them

They will just get sanctioned to death and also the corporations will influence countries neighbouring them to attack them which happened countless time and even get western intervention also Afghanistan is not a good comparison to Congo because Afghanistan is landlocked and is not as rich in resources as Congo and their population is not that big as Congo. Also if they pick up arms who they fighting? They don't have foreign forces and read what I said above in this paragraph of what the corporations will do.

@MaakhirMayor you have to understand that Congo has way too much potential and resources for the western world and economic system to handle that's why they are a much different case.

Bro you keep ignore their population is over a 110M!! You can’t oppress a population that large if they’re willing to fight back. If these people fight for their country, the international coverage that they’d get from the media would give them massive support. Everyone loves supporting people who fight for their homeland. The truth is these corporations are able to exploit that country because they pay off a bunch of corrupt elites and nothing will change until the people fight back. You can’t win against 110M+ who are fighting on their homeland

These peoples suffering were for 500 years, back then they only had 16 intellectuals SIXTEEN not to mention most of the population is illiterate and uneducated and riddled with so many militias these people have a gazillion ethnic groups and they have hostile on all sides not to mention they are a literal economic r*petoy for the corporations and if people organise they can just fund some other militia and make them fight amongst themselves like I said sure the world may support them and sure they have lots of people but Congo is very complex perhaps the most complex country in Africa it is literally doomed and has been suffering for 500 years.

I sure hope the have a higher gpd after all that exploitation. However how would a majority of our citizens becoming slaves in cobalt mines be amazing?
Lol ignore the stat's he provided they are outdated go to IMF and the stat's there are more updated we have a higher GDP per capita than them and it's all through livestock and other small scale methods.
