The main reason Puntlanders are obsessed with Somaliland

For those of you who asked yourself why Puntlanders are so obsessed with SL, i will analyse the situation without insulting, but stating facts. My main source for my argumentation is a recent parlamient session from the Puntland region. Here is the video of the session:

Let me summarise for those, who are to lazy to watch or not fluent in Somali (probably most of you) what the Mudaneyaal were discussing:

1) "The main reason (for the approach to tax goods on SL with 500 %) was the decline of the Bosaaso port. If we allow goods to be imported from the Tukaraq road, only more doors will be closed for the Bosaaso port, which already suffers from decrease in the first place. We as the 'commission for economy' believe that any import from the nothern regions, no matter what quantity, that threatens the economy of PL, should be banned."

2) "We spoke earlier about liberating our land from SL and if we sign the approach to tax all goods from nothern regions, we also admit that the disputed area is part of SL".

3) "It was expected that this week the UAE would open the trade for livestock from Somalia. Bosaaso port was not given the rights to export, but Berbera. It seems there is a major political relation between SL and UAE. If all the containers and livestock will be moved to Berbera and considering Bosaaso was the base of our life supply, you can expect what our state and future will look like."

4) "First of all, every transaction with SL means we are recognizing the disputed land as SL territory. Secondly DP-World has a campaign against PL. They closed the Oman-port as a move against us, so that the Berbera port can export (more). "

Conclusion : The obsession of PL with SL is not reduced to Sspot, but even plays a major role in their Parlamient, which is representative for their region. If you read what the parliamentarians said, it is clear that the reason for their obsession is: They fear for their existence. You can't blame them really for that. Liberating 'their' land, the mysterious connection between SL and UAE, the decline of Bosaaso port compared to Bebera.... War ya Alle yaqaan, walaaleyaalow nimankan ay nafta hayso bal u duceeya, sidan si maaha.

It's business & money.

I've been saying thisa long time, investors both foreign & domestic only invest in areas where it is most likely to grant returns and for a long time now Somaliland has led the charge due to having a large and active diaspora who invested more and made it attractive.

The more Somaliland especially Berbera and the West grows economically and trickles down to the Eastern Regions PL will be left in the dark and subservient to the Somaliland economy. We saw what happened how those regions quit using the Somalia currency when it tanked & opted for SL Shilling

We will need to wait and see if this is implemented,

Reer PL on here that shout about we gonna get the Chinese Germans etc to come and invest need to understand and look through their point of view. Why would an international imvestor go to PL with a sub par port when Somaliland is next door with a domestic market and regionally integrated

Don't let pride make you delusional

It has already been confirmed that animals ee ka dhoofaya Berbera do NOT need certification from Xamar, this is good news but it should not have happened in the first place. Kudos to the SL livestock traders for using their links in UAE and Saudi to get this reversed.

Secondly what would be fantastic news is if Saudi opened the trade fully and not just in time for Hajj like the way it was between 2009 and 2016 when we were exporting between 3.5 million and 4 million animals per year.

The livestock trade has animals originating from SL, Hawd and Ogadenia - The traders i.e. the middle men and the big exporting comapnies have always been dominated by us. Since the the 1980s Xamar has been trying to wrestle control of this trade from us.

Alhamdullilah - They have failed and are still failing.

That parliament session seems so unprofessional the West the way they conducted themselves with only a few people in and a brief discussion as voiding on something that'll effect 1m people.

Not even discussing how to implement or how they can reduce the effect.

What SL should do is build a logistics hub in Laascaanood & Burco for lorries and expand the road to encourage trade

1 million xageed ka keentay?

The trade with Puntland is miniscule compared with the trade with the Western Somali clans and the Eastern Oromo.

Our focus should be the West - That is where the population is and this where there is money to be made.

Put the pompoms down and be a spectator.

Shamelessly using my own lines against me.

RIP FKD
If you had an ounce of intelligence you would see the sarcasm in it but what can be expected from reer 68. Now respond to the OP with full sentences if you're able to instead of trying to derail the thread.

it helps being a 1000 or so miles closer to middle east than xamar and also helps xamar is too unstable, who would trust if the animals are certificated or they have done the right hanaan in terms of health certificate

Nice to see you back down. Now be a spectator and drop the pompoms.

Perhaps you were busy planning your next cheerleading move, but I responded with a vicious, below the belt response. The ball is in his court.
