The maids back home apparently are borderline predators

I was talking with a Somali friend one time about my time in Africa (Ethiopia and Kenya) and I told her about this one instance in Ethiopia where my male cousin was flirting with the maid who worked for us, mind you the cousin in question was TWELVE and the maid was like 20 or 21.

I remember telling my mom and aunt and both just ignored me, I felt really icky about the entire situation because hooyo had warned me about older guys many times so I was so mind boggled why they were turning the other cheek in this instance.

When I started calling the maid a creep and telling her what she was doing was wrong, my family started treating me like I was jealous?! I was just trying to look out for him walahi:wtfguccimane:

Anyway she tells me that itโ€™s super common for that to happen and starts getting into wild tales about how in Kenya this 15 year old knocked up one of the maids TWICE and that itโ€™s more common than you thinkโ€ฆ.

Does this stuff actually happen a lot?! Iโ€™m actually disturbed ๐Ÿคฎ
:faysalwtf: :mjlol:

Having maids should be abolished. It's 2023 not 1466

I've always found the culture of people who aren't obscenely rich having maids to be absolutely repulsive.

In my mind I instantly associate it with the 3rd world

I saw a vid on saudi Ethiopian maids and how they lock them up and sometimes throw them of of buildings

I guess maids are common cause you donโ€™t need any qualifications this is why we need a better education system.

It is common in Somalia that the first woman you do these things to
is your maid I thought everyone knew this ๐Ÿ˜‚
Even me personally when I was 14 and my friends started telling me what they did I almost went and touched our maid

You guys are raping your maid, thatโ€™s what kind Beowulf call it, sheโ€™s employed and putting your advances to her is exploitive

Are you joking? ๐Ÿ˜‚ If anyoneโ€™s being exploited itโ€™s the young boys that these grown ass women are preying on. Yet you want to defend them and make them out to be the victim yaabโ€ฆ If it were grown ass men making these advances then yeah itโ€™s exploitive, but young boys? That the women are preying on to begin with? Saying all that is an insult to actual r*pe victims.

How are Somalis treated is Addis or Ethiopia? Iโ€™m curious is it similar to Kenya? I lived there for almost 5 months and my family also had maids but these stories are crazy. It never crossed my mind but tbh kenyan maids arenโ€™t really a prize
Your just treated the same it is better aswell as in the bond then Kenya coz your amongst fellow Cushitic's so you can blend in , in Addis they even speak Somali had a lot of close Habeshi friends who spoke Somali. The dugsi was mixed aswell the neighbourhood times was lit the somali kids speak Oromo and native languages too but I only knew English and Somali but it was fine coz the Habeshi kids spoke Somali too.
