How are Somalis treated is Addis or Ethiopia? I’m curious is it similar to Kenya? I lived there for almost 5 months and my family also had maids but these stories are crazy. It never crossed my mind but tbh kenyan maids aren’t really a prize

I was talking with a Somali friend one time about my time in Africa (Ethiopia and Kenya) and I told her about this one instance in Ethiopia where my male cousin was flirting with the maid who worked for us, mind you the cousin in question was TWELVE and the maid was like 20 or 21.

I remember telling my mom and aunt and both just ignored me, I felt really icky about the entire situation because hooyo had warned me about older guys many times so I was so mind boggled why they were turning the other cheek in this instance.

When I started calling the maid a creep and telling her what she was doing was wrong, my family started treating me like I was jealous?! I was just trying to look out for him walahi

Anyway she tells me that it’s super common for that to happen and starts getting into wild tales about how in Kenya this 15 year old knocked up one of the maids TWICE and that it’s more common than you think….

Does this stuff actually happen a lot?! I’m actually disturbed

A 12 year old man in Somalia is more mature than a 20 year old man in UK. They’ve experienced some shit that will make most men go through PTSD and trauma.

He’s a man. She works for him as a maid. The power dynamics are all in his favour. If anyone is being exploited, it’s her.

I saw a vid on saudi Ethiopian maids and how they lock them up and sometimes throw them of of buildings

I guess maids are common cause you don’t need any qualifications this is why we need a better education system.

Yeah but thats just how Arabs are. They do the same in Europe too, those rich ones. They abuse maids and pretty much any foreign worker. Steal your passport and everything, kinda crazy. Idk why some young women today want to get with those Arabs. The rich Arab guy wont marry her and he'll just abuse and abandon her with his half Cadaan child like every other Cadaan woman, even in the modern world those Arabs are still on a conquest conquering these foreign women and leaving them to raise their children lol. Is it really worth it?
