Alot of people don't genuinely care about the people of the region, for them Awdal state is another vehicle to weaken Somaliland which in all honesty i have no qualms with. If these people want Somaliland, who are we to tell them to seccede from their FMS?
How they would do that against the newly rearmed SL would be an even bigger question? When I was in Borama I had a very frank conversation with my bajaj driver who told me the Goverment took any and all weapons these people and and added to SL millitary armoury. They gave up their weapons in exchange for security and development and their city is booming (Borama is one of the most beautiful in all of Somaliweyne). That decision decided their fate for decades to come, now they have a large educated urabised populace that is thriving at the cost of a political monopoly over their FMS. Some clans are to proud to let another clan rule over them, others would rather peace and prosperity over power and pandemonium.
