There needs to be justice, the diaspora should withhold remittance money for 6 months until Shabaab is dropped by all the clan leaders.

@kickz

Who benefits more from the remittances? You gonna starve your elderly grandparents for an impossible task?

It's strange to be announced by an ambassador which shows the chaotic way Somalis manage the affairs of the country, but it is a great symbolic way to remember her.

I have yet to digest the thought of Hodan being gone. That beautiful care free soul and heart? That inordinate amount of love for her country? I cant watch her videos and just contemplate/imagine she is six feet under. :(

I assume because the award would be for diaspora* like Hodan who contribute. Maybe that’s why the foreign ministry announced it, but I suspect there will be a more official announcement soon.

Someone has to say it.

The award is named after a very likeable person who was killed by Somalia.

I’m sorry, but that’s not exactly the right kind of inspiration for people in the diaspora who may have wanted to go there and help. If anything, realistically, her story serves as a deterrent (at least until the forces that killed her and others are dealt with).

She was killed by terrorists and she knew the risk but loved her country. Don’t use her name for all that she was against and dedicated her life to fight.

She was inspired by Saado Caali Warsame, who was also killed by terrorists while she was fighting for what she believed in back home. It didn’t serve as a deterrent for her but motivated her.

Yes, but these are people that were murdered, sis.

They’re tragic precedents.

I couldn't give a toss if my posts are qashiined or not, but what is wrong with what VixR wrote? You seem to be on a crusade here for damage control on behalf of the SFG. A scholarship grant on her name would've been more beneficial than asking diaspora Somalis to come home and get bombed, but that too would be handed to kids who are well connected.

Yeah but it’s the last thing she would want people to use her death for.

I want this to be a positive thread, just wanted to tell people about the new award named after her and her upcoming memorial in Toronto.

What does this at all have to do with SFG? Wth. I think your subconscious is making assumptions because of all the accusations I get on here.

Damage control?? I shared some information how about a reward named after her and her upcoming memorial.

Why would I need to do damage control? What does this have to do with govt? Some of you are sick and like to argue for the sake of it.

Dear o' dear, then what is wrong with what VixR wrote for you to qashiin? If their intention is to follow her footsteps for them only to lose their lives, then it is a very bad idea. It reminds me of these diaspora politicians asking every diasporan to return back home and contribute except their own children.

Lol why are you taking that qashin so personal? I explained why in my exchange with sis @VixR

Well for starters they're the government of Somalia and its their duty to grant the security of the Somali citizens.. If they can't do this then they should change title and stop claiming to be the government of Somalia.
The FGS isn’t directly in control of the security in Kismayo it falls under a regional state, and based on the history of your posts you support that. So I don’t understand?

Although personally, I actually do agree with that.

Anyway, again it’s not the thread for that. You can start a new one and @ me there.

@embarassing
Sorry but I just cannot see how an award is going to solve the terrorists menace Somalia is facing as a whole.. Instead of coming up with a solution on the terrorist threat the best our Somali government could do is announce an award and we are just supposed to sit back and clap and thank the government? Come on now sis.

If anything this is just a half hearted and silly announcement. Nothing to applaud...sorry to ruin your thread but we have nothing to be proud of or be positive about when we just lost such a beautiful soul as Hodan...
