Egypt went from 35 million ppl to 109 in just 50 yearsThe Middle East had a huge population boom between 1950 and 2000. This boom has not yet come to an end in places like Iraq and Egypt. The whole region is very vulnerable to disruptions in global food and energy trade.
Somalia is probably in an even worse situation given our population growth, lack of water resources outside of the Juba and Shabelle, and weak gov unable to create a grain reserve to hedge against something like the Ukraine war.
