This is pretty bad if their saying this isn't a proper quarantine service. Desperation of the worst order. Puntland is the only region where these services are carried out and they have the equipment and expertise. It's not just food or drinks either, it's everything. Medicines, petroleum, perfumes, basically any commodity. The goal is to ensure only quality products are in Puntland and only Quality stuff is exported out of the state.

This is a huge progress for all Somalia. Only goods in Puntland will be safe. Where-as other regions of Somalia doesn't even have a quality service.

This is going to be a huge boost for our economy. As we can warn our export markets not to take other somali products as they have no safety standards and could well poison you. :ileycry:

Besides what sort of experience you think you need for quality assurance? your already given a East African Framework that tells you the composition of ingredients for healthy products, then you compare your testing product against the framework. You also are also given the 'signature' composition of bad chemicals and you just compare it against your testing product. It's not Physic stuff this.

People must think this is a chemist laboratory creating new products. It's not. It's a quality service, you just follow damn instructions, you wouldn't even need a diploma I wouldn't think for this.

But the benefits are absolutely massive. PL will enjoy the safest products and goods while other regions suffer from low quality standards. This will be a huge boost to our health sector as less and less people will get sick. This will be a boost to our economy as our products 'actually' will go through a RECOGNISED International framework for benchmarking our goods. We can provide certificates of the healthy standard of our products and it can be verified that each process in the framework has been followed by coming to the LAB.

Puntland's Lab & Quality Control in Bosaso rejected the entrance of a food shipment carrying expired food. After a visual examination of the packages, sample of the shipment were brought to the lab and it was indeed severly contaminated.

This service will save lives and it already proved its worth to our public heath!

We need to have a Quality Control Services in all our borders in the south and west.

It's about time the government did this, we need clean water that meets the 'WHO standards' and the government must follow the frameworks of clean water guidelines and what sort of investment is required by all puntland water companies, we must reach the World Health Organisation chemical standard for Puntland whole water network and supply be it bottled manufacturers or water supply plants(tap water).

No company can escape this 'regulation' and must be audited by the ministry for compliance and licenses given only to 'legal' water companies who have met the standard.

I also say you need to regulate the hospitality industry as a whole to meet the international health standards for food preparation-hygiene standards in kitchens-even the food producers need licenses to produce, this way we can eliminate 'the rubbish naga timaado koonfurta' and encourage local growers to own the agriculture market in puntland for themselves without competition from the southern food growers.

This is a huge achievement in Puntland progress. Clean water is the beginning of reducing health problems, I am looking forward to southern farmers also banned from PL market as they won't meet the 'PL food quality control framework' and this will give our own local growers the edge in the market to service our agriculture needs without cheap ass 'southies' competition and we are using 'regulatory laws' as a way to get rid of hiiraan farmer products, some of the agriculture produce I see in PL waa shocking standards, I would never eat it that's for certain.

I guess the HDI factor is huge, no matter what this cursed nation produces it will always be at the bottom of the pile for quality assurance and cheapness.

Clearly Puntland has moved towards protecting its civilians from exploitation by businessmen. President Deni recently warned Water & electricity companies that charge too much money. That's also why Puntland opened up state owned Power Plants in Bosaso.

If the investment for food security infrastructure isn't possible in PL, let's at least trade with DDSI and buy their produce not beletwayn and shabab controlled southern somalia, this will put a huge dent in southern economics by losing puntland markets which they see as 'virgin' because there is no local grower that will compete with that cheap ass products from the south.

If we keep most of our trade thru galdgob-turdibi and tell 'absame' PL is your new trade partner in agriculture, it's a bonus because were helping to entrench our political alliance with economical trade, it's better your ally grows thru our trade then have your enemy grow.

I still think we should look to reach 'food security' levels because if an 'drought or conflict' happens in the unstable south, it will effect us in PL as we will die with them since they won't be able to provide our market place with the needed fruit and vegetables. We must switch our agriculture trade to DDSI and encourage DDSI to remain politically stable and anti 'war' or else if DDSI goes into conflict it could ruin 'garacad port future' and our agricultural trade. By tying 'trade' to your allies, it guarantees to them you are going to be productive political partner, ileen dhinaca economics ayaa isku xiran tihin with both of you having vested interest in the peace and stability of both sides.

Hopefully it gets supervised by professional and moral people.

Could easily see this used as a way to squeeze money from food importers.

I hope they're following some international standards.

It would all come out, if there was for example, a breakout of a disease due to out of date medicine or food. Heads would roll at the lab and the Government itself.

Puntland is in talks with the Federal Government to ensure other Federal States also have quality and control labs so that out of date food and medicine isn't imported into Somalia and Puntland itself.

It's useless if only Bosaso is carrying out these checks as people can import out of date products using other ports and then smuggle it into the state.

Not worried that bad food would be allowed in.

More so that they'll make it harder for quality food importers without a bribe to speed things along.

TIA after all.
