This is the first mosque in Australia built by afghan cameleers (see below story of the description of who were the Afghans) in the town of Maree in South Australia (Adelaide the capital city) in 1861.

This is the second mosque built in 1884 by "Afghan" cameleers. It was built in the New South Wales (Sydney the capital of the State) town of Broken Hill. Australia imported camels and cameleers from "Kashmir, Rajastan, Egypt, Persia, Turkey, Punjab, Baluchistan, Afghanistan, India and Pakistan. They were known as ‘Afghans’, although very few were actually from Afghanistan." to build telegraphs and the railway line in the rugged interior of Australia. These Afghan cameleers built this and the one above mosque.
