OPINION The existence of Djibouti is really sabotaging Somalia's development

The existence of this carved out territory totally negates any reason for Ethiopia/West to take the peace process in Somalia seriously.

Ethiopia can just rely on a single man/family to get all their cargo needs from the port. Same as the USA.

Landlocked Ethiopia needs sea ports? Djbouti.
Oil in Ogaden? Great, lets make a pipeline to Djbouti.
Need a military base in the red sea? Djbouti.

It kinda pisses me off. I have no doubt in my mind Djibouti was part of Somalia the conflict in Somalia would have been resolved long ago simply because there would be too much at stake. The world is taking all the juice of the strategic location of Somalia and concentrating it in this small area, starving everywhere else. This is Hong Kong 100000x

The international community has spent a lot of time resolving the conflict even contributing lives with AMISOM. It's a Somali problem that there's no capable security forces. It's a Somali problem that there's government corruption. You can't put that on Djibouti if the countries want a strategic input in East Africa without problems.
