actually.... I don't think this is as big as people think it is. don't get me wrong, this is terrible but there was a local Salafi preacher I heard who talked about Adel al-Kalbani and called him the Yasir Qadhi of Saudi Arabia. so he is known for doing questionable stuff, although I think this is probably some of the worst yet that he's done.

The dude used to talk about how music wasn't xaraam , way before the rise of MBS to power and this new wave of state sponsored 'modernization' .
he even issued a fatwa .

In a fatwa, al-Kalbani considered singing to be permissible under Islamic law, but retracted it in 2010.[18][19][20][21] In 2019, he backtracked on his retraction and again considered it permissible.[22] A religious singing event was attended by al-Kalbani.[23] A flute was purportedly used.[24][25][26]

Tbh music and singing is kind of in a grey area in Islam but most scholars throughout history told people to avoid it. There are a few hadiths in which the Prophet peace be upon him allowed Aisha RA to enjoy listening to musical performances during festivities even though he himself never indulged in it.

it is NOT a grey area.

"From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful."

so we know that there will be Muslims who will consider zina, silk, alcohol and musical instruments as halal. is zina a grey area?

there are things like the duff being allowed during weddings, etc. but it's blatantly obvious that music in general is haraam, there is tons of evidence showing this and all four of the imams (Shafi, Hanbal, etc.) were agreed on music being haraam.

Cash is King. MBS can see the writing on the wall for Saudi and its dependence on oil. From his appearance on TV involving himself in religious matters talking about how some Sahih Hadith aint really that "sahih". Lmaoo welcome to the new age indeed. He wants that big ol new city build asap for that tourism money. Gotta have them kpop artists and co entertaining the masses and all.

I didn't dispute the other things being haram akhi just the music part. Anyway, see how it says "use of musical instruments" this seems to imply musicians who practice and play with instruments. I think that's different to simply listening to it as a non-musician. In the end, Allah S.W.T knows best.

Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.
If you follow religion called Saudi Arabia it’s big blow but if you follow Islam then it shouldn’t matter what they do over there. They are like any other country capable of being this way
