not really, trump won the election in 2016 because of the incompetence of Hillary. she did not even visited Wisconsin. she could have easily won with better campaigning.

The Republican Party is in a civil war, its the Trump bloc full of lunatic conspiracy theorists that frankly shouldn't even be allowed to run and the "traditional" conservative republicans that have their own problems but not nearly as bad as the supposed "populist" right, though these traditional ones are a dying breed.
The dems have their own little squabbles too with the progressives and the more modernate wings, this will probably show in the coming months

And have you ever thought why the Republicans rejected it. It was TRUMP who first proposed to increase the bill to 2000. But Section 23 had to be repeal too. But you democrats wants to "rainbow" everything. If you even tried looking at the bill, its clear that it ain't as clear as daylight. But alas, you want to demonize the President for your own incompetence.
True, though last time around in 2016 a lot of progressives that voted for Bernie in the primaries did not vote for Hillary in the general election because of their differences, despite Trump being much worse than Hillary in the eyes of the progressives they wouldn't do it, instead they voted for tiny parties that have no chance like the green party or just didnt vote at all
This time around is much different, the vast majority of the progressives despite Biden being modernate in their eyes voted for him, they probably realized after 2016 that it isn't worth wasting their votes, and this is a smarter strategy, voting for whoever is better despite their flaws and I believe Trumps base hasnt realized this quite yet, a lot of them in Georgia had decided to boycott the eelction by not voting (which could be one reason why both dems won in georgia when even a month ago both was very unlikely) 2022 will be an interesting year to see what these voter bases from both sides will do
Both parties are having their more "extreme" factions gain ground, and Trump is still highly popular among Republicans and I believe these republican politicans believe the best way to tap into his base is to ride along the lunacy, interesting to see how that pans out as well, when tonight its expected that over 100 republicans are planning on rejecting bidens win in the electoral certification, all i see is a bunch of desperate republicans, and it would be hilarious if this ends up ruining their careers in the long run
