You seem to forget that Welkait was ethnically cleansed of Amharas during the TPLFs reign. Amhara are rightfully taking back what’s theirs.

It’s not like I have an allegiance to any of these ethnic groups otherwise I logically would have sided with those Tegaru bastards. Amhara are just the lesser of (three) evils to me as an Eritrean. Tegaru want to annex my country and Oromo want to break apart my church. The Amhara haven’t done anything to my people in me or my parents lifetime

You may have a point, but let's not distort facts here. While Welkait may have had higher Amharas before, and demographic changes made through Tigrayan settlements there. It doesn't change, what we've seen during the war. That it is nothing, but ethnic cleansing as I mentioned and don't come close to what "TPLF" has done. If it seems fine with you on the ground that "rightfully taking back what’s theirs", despite documented atrocities, and still claim Amharas are the lesser evil. You may in fact be a lost cause, with all due respect.

Also your judgement on this issue stems from your people's issues/past with Tigrayans, so I don't expect you to be unbiased in this regard, unfortunately. How "TPLF" did this and that... Let's not forget how it was governed as a coalition (EPRDF), and without Amharas support they would've not been able to sustain power. Hence, when Amharas and Oromos revolted in 2015, they lost power. Now that it doesn't benefit regime officials, they've all switched sides, and using the Tigrayan boogeyman. It's justifiable if the accusations are coming from civilians, but not from the likes of Abiy Ahmed, Demeke Mekonnen etc. who were parts and parcel of the former regime.

Don't know how old you are, but Eritreans have had a deeper dislike for Amharas than Tigrayans, at least up until the split and they took over power, especially the 00 war. It wasn't Tigrayans that annexed Eritrea into Ethiopia in the 40s. It wasn't them who oppressed you (Tigrayans suffered like you). It wasn't them who you fought against for your independence for decades. In fact, that's when y'all became closer. As far as the 00 war and subsequent conflict (that Amharas participated, but again it was "TPLF" and not "EPRDF" to you), it was a two-way ordeal, Eritrea and Ethiopia trying to break each other apart. Try being more impartial against Amharas next time. As far as Oromos, they're irrelevant here.

On our part, I'd say like others also have said. When it comes to the economical aspect, at least in the private sector, make sure that you employ Somalis firsthand. Nothing xenophobic/discriminatory against non-Somalis, but locals (Somalis) should be prioritized. Especially when we got such a high unemployment rates. More Somalis needs to also take lower "status" jobs, that even Amharas don't take. It's usually Oromos, who get these types of jobs.

On a regional level, we need a new gov't. One that takes into consideration to his people needs and concerns. Stop active state sponsoring of non-Somalis to settle here, for whatever agenda they have. Evidently since we are part of Ethiopia, we can't deny non-Somalis moving here just like other regional gov't can't do to non-natives. But the least we should be doing is set requirements to those wanting to settle there. And most importantly have a regulated control of movement/migration. Including only allowing those who want to move there out of their own "will", i.e. no intentional state facilitated migration.

Requirements can include, to make sure that they must learn the language, with exceptions maybe in the beginning. Even jobs, including public sector jobs; everyone should have knowledge of the Somali language. (As it's the same every other place). Schools must be provide solely in Somali to all, and let people choose a second language of their choice to add on top of it. With exception to only native minorities. Encourage others to not settle all in the same place, and prevent large settlements of migrants concentrated in a specific area. Like in some part of Jigjiga, especially close to the center, there are only Amharas. If ethnic minorities moves like this, you feel like foreigners when you pass by, with all the above mentioned factors. All in all, just do as the other regional states do in being "protectionist", while still having order and following the laws of the country, for the time being.

I forgot to mention, all of these factors will naturally "scare" them away and prefer settling in other areas. They hate nothing more than places where Amharic can't be used, since they are used to being accommodated. So it's a win-win for both sides, as we don't have to take draconian measures that often gets unwanted attention.

I remember going to Tog Wajaale and there were a lot of amharas and oromos there speaking amharic. The somali region has to only have somalis and only use somali. Our ancestors fought so hard to keep our language.
