The cost of 500,000 Somali soldiers would be 50 million a month or 600 million a year.

billions are spent every year managing the problems of Somalia so you have to believe that xasiidnimo is behind the West avoiding this simple solution.

Everyone who is a patron in somalia except Qatar, Eritrea, and turkey don’t want a strong military so they can abuse the nation.

HSM distanced himself from those three countries because he’s a puppet for the west. They’ll claim your qabiliste for stating the obvious.

Farmaajo lost. Go be fatherless somewhere else.

Calculating your estimations equates 100 dollar per soldier. Considering everything they have to endure and how their lives are viewed as a mere statistic; why should the soldiers of Somalia only be paid 100 dollar a month, when they're deserving of better pay?

But you've a point tho. The billions spent of shisheeye forces could be put to better use and more efficiently if it was invested in local forces (not that we should expect handouts either, but in principle). After all, they have nothing to show for after more than a decade of their presence.

It won’t be hard paying that amount since Somalia has tons of untapped natural resources, ports, is strategically located in an important geographical area. but will it happen? no there’s to much foreign interference.

Sometimes you have to shovel through the xaar to find the gold, in the sewage refuse we call politicians.

you have your reasons as do I.

-Regarding OP
Somalia doesn’t lack manpower but funds for its military. One of the youngest countries in Africa so it’d have many men ready to enlist. There’s an underlying reason with nefarious agenda keeping IC from pursuing the Somali military.

500k soldiers to fight whom? Al-S are probably less than 10k we don't need a large army what we need is better equipment and highly trained soldiers. I wouldn't say we have a lack of manpower, but instead lack the proper weapons to take them out.

I say no more than 50k to 60k highly Trained soldiers. Somali need to spend 1/3 of the budget on security.

because it costs them 3 billion dollars a year to not fund it.

Those billions are spent for altruistic reasons such as feeding the poor, funding an army won't solve anything. The West opposed funding the army in the 1960s but were happy to support policing, and history proved them right. Sometimes it's best to learn from those that are in a better position than you.

Shockingly I agree with you

To OP we don’t even tax half of that really. Spending even 20% of our budget on security forces is undesirable long term. Should be going to education, health and projects that’ll raise revenue
