The problem is that you keep thinking, "how does this affect HG?" as soon as the question is popped up not "How will affect the development of Somalia?". Puntland would have to have its own currency, there would be challenges for its businesses, from difficulties of travel to complications in the exchange in goods and services due to the fact it wouldn't gain recognition.
And you keep thinking that there wouldn't be conflict, which is pretty fucking optimistic. Somalis have killed each other for far less in the past.

I did say initially that GLK can be partitioned, the same way the Vatican City was part of Rome and they took 100 acres of it and turned it into an independent city-state. Somalis were only brought together by colonial powers which is 100% true.
