"Dutch government assigned a "negotiator" to talk with the farmers. The guy they assigned was the very architect of the scheme that the farmers are protesting against as it's designed to destroy the entire farming sector (and deliberately so), and has been given zero leeway to actually negotiate. Farmers are therefore refusing to meet with the man, and the press portrays them as "unreasonable"... Meanwhile the government found a hitherto unknown "organisation of organic farmers" who have a fantastic (PMs words) plan to "fundamentally change Dutch agriculture to be sustainable". A plan that'd involve doing exactly what the government wants: stop all use of fertiliser, herbicide, and cull all farm animals. BUT as it would include "farmers getting fair prices" all farmers can stay in business (that they'd lose 50-75% of their yield and thus would need 3-4 times the price per ton of product they produce, elevating food prices by 3-4 times, is apparently irrelevant."
Holy shit the Dutch are following in Sri Lankas footsteps when it comes to organic farming!
