Tigrinya has a certain accent which makes it different from Amharic (even though I acknowledge they are two separate languages & Tigrinya would be more comparable to the Eritrean dialect, they(Amharic & Tigrinya) both still derive from Ge'ez and are closely related). The difference in accent is this gluttural type sounds which are non-existent in Amharic, so that was where I was making the comparison but you're right it ends there.
As to Canadian accent vs. Aussie accent, there is definitely a difference that a non-English speaker could pick up. Take a newfie accent for example, it sounds more Irish than anything...and that would stick out when being compared to Aussie. The only dialects that I find hard to distinguish are the Arabic ones.

Lol, how do you tell the difference when you see them?? I can never tell us apart the few times that I end up running into a group from one of those ethnicities (including the Habesha Eritreans), they all just look Habesha to me

I think that the Amxaar have more Omotic admixture.
They both look Habesha to me and I wouldn't be able to tell which was Tigrayan or which was Amxaar. The second guy definitely doesn't look like "typical Somali" to me though. And also, there are variances within the groups as well...not all Amxaar look the same and not all Tigrayans look the same...I can also cherry pick pictures to prove a point that is opposite to yours...but for what?

Yes, we have slightly more Omotic and Cushitic mixture than the Tigrayans (Amharas tend to mix more, I think).

Lool somnet is the starter guide for Somali clan politics. My intro to Isaaq classes were taken there and it made me into a full fledged tribalist. Hawdian is a self styled Ethiologist

Funny guy I refused to believe he was Somali at first but his knowledge about certain niche things like his clan and Hargeisa convinced me. But it makes sense now why you understand Somali so much.

Western Somali Accent or Reer Galbeed, Everyone Understands us, Waqooyi, Reer Xamar and Mudug and our favourite word is Agaax. The Western Somali Dialect is Fun and very formal and is not to Strong and not too soft it is just right.
