The assassination of Bakaal Kooke opens up a new chapter in Gedo

Following the assassination of Bakaal Kooke, Abdirashid Janan is back in town and the Ethiopian troops are now securing Fartaag & Janan’s safe entrance into Doolow.

Bakaal Kooke an Ethiopian backed Somali intelligence officer was the single most powerful figure in the 3 local towns of Luuq,Doolow, and Beledxaawo. His death leaves a major question on who will inherit the powers left behind from the vacuum.

Ironically Mahad salad issued a statement naming a replacement for Bakaal Kooke.

The paper issued by Mahad salad is considered illegitimate because the new guy is considered powerless in Gedo without any connections. The competitors in Gedo are wary of Mahad salad’s ambition which is to try and place the region under his shadows just like his predecessor Kulane Jiis has done

Mahad salad also tried to stop Janan & Fartaag from entering the town. Mahad salad did not contact Jubaland state regarding this new appointment.

As of right now the situation in Gedo region is up for grabs. The strongest of the bunch will come out on top.

Bakaal Kooke was an authoritarian using Ethiopian troops to control the airport and roads in Doolow town keeping a tab on all those who entered the town.
