The 9 Swords Of The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

A brief history of each of the swords used by the Prophet SAW in his lifetime, and where they are located currently.

1) Al-'Adb, which translates to "sharp" in Arabic, was given to the Prophet SAW by a friend before the Battle of Badr. The blade was used by the Prophet SAW again in Uhud. Today, the blade is in the Husain mosque in Cairo.

2)
Al-Ma'thur, the blade the Prophet SAW owned before the first revelation. This was inheritance from the Prophet SAW father, with his name inscribed on the blade.

Upon the migration to Medina, ownership of the blade was transferred to Ali Ibn Abi Talib RA.

The sword is 99 cm long and currently housed in the Topkaki Museum in Istanbul.

3) Ar-Rasub:
This blade was more of an heirloom of sorts and did not see battle, but was kept at the Prophet SAW home. Also housed at the Topkaki Museum in Istanbul. Is 140 cm long

4) Al-Battar: Taken as booty from the Banu Qaynaqa, this blade is called the "Sword of Prophets" because it is inscribed with the names of several prophets. Blade is 101 cm in length. Housed at the Topkaki Museum.

5) Hatf: Another booty from the Banu Qaynaqa, the blade closely resembles Battar but is a bit longer. The sword is 112cm long and 8cm wide. It is housed at the Topkaki Museum.

6) Qal'i : The third sword which came as booty from the Banu Qaynaqa. The sword is preserved im the Topkaki Museum in Istanbul. An inscription on the blade reads “This is the noble sword of the house of Muhammad the prophet, the apostle of God.”

If you look close at the blade it looks like a wave that is rippling much like Hatf. 100cm in length.

7) Dhu Al Faqar: Better known to you as Zulfiqar, the Prophet Muhammad SAW gained the blade at Badr and gifted the blade to Ali RA before Uhud.
Current location is unknown.

8) Al-Mikhdam: this blade is reported to have passed down from the Prophet SAW to his cousin, friend, companion, and that son in law Ali RA. Ali RA passed it on to his progeny.

Others narrate that Ali RA had taken the blade in a raid in Syria.

The sword is at the Topkaki Museum in Istanbul.

the thinnest sword of the Prophet SAW, the blade was used for defense and companionship- but never for battle.

Was later used by the Fatimid caliphs.

100 cm in length and kept in the Topkaki Museum in Istanbul.

Other interesting possessions of the Prophet SAW:

The spear Anazah, which was held by The Prophet Muhammad SAW during Eid festivals and used as a sutrah during salah.

A staff called Al-Mashmuq used as a walking stick and passed onto the later caliphs.

After the fall of the Abbasids, the Ottomans gained the caliphate and the relics that came with it.



Extra care was delivered to preserve all the blades. Many Islamic relics were moved from The Arab World to the Ottoman Empire.
