Somalia is a country completely reliant on aid, every year 2-3 million are prone to food shortages without drought. When there was a drought in 2017 almost 7 million people required food aid, that's half the country. It's in an entirely different league to other African countries but instead of facing the issue head on you people want to bury your heads in the sand. The only reason they are happy is cause they haven't seen what's on the other side, the side of Nintendo and Starbucks.

I have been to Somalia, nearly all of somaliland and puntland from boorame to eyl and gaalkacyo and everything in between- I haven’t seen a place where it was awfully bad besides the idps...

I haven’t been to the south and I understand they are lacking if you compare to the north but it’s still miles better than their counterparts in mainland africa - life in Somalia is cheap and peaceful- yes they don’t have 6 lane roads but who has in Africa besides capitals owned by foreigners to extract raw goods to process in EU or America

On top of that I have been to 5 African countries including our neighbours Ethiopia and Kenya and the things I have seen were something you wouldn’t even think it belongs in a horror movie....

You do know many Somali villages and even towns lack basic necessities. They all eat that disgusting rotten rice and maize from food aid . The cadaans destroy the economy by donating tons of rotten rat infested food making local farming not profitable. No wonder why niggaz back home resemble Barkhad Captain Philips.


Most of these African countries don’t face droughts like Somaliweyn regions. They have fertile lands where they produce their own food. They are poor but have food to eat.

Maybe it’s natural selection that these people are dying. The sea is literally next to them all they need to do is fish. China,Vietnam, India, Iran and even Japan come all the way to Somalia to fish because of abundance of fish. But People back home don’t eat Eggs, Chicken or Fish. They look down on people eating these type of rich protein sourced food. I have seen it with my own eyes.

Those countries have a lot of poverty as well but it's not on the scale of Somalia. The difference with Somalia is that it appears many are content with poverty. As the user above said they would rather eat food aid than fish in the ocean. Most Somali town are inland despite the land being very arid. If they are happy despite the situation they are in, it's best to chalk it down to ignorance. You said yourself that many of the areas are peaceful, so why hasn't there been progress for the last few hundred years? It's time we ask these questions without being labelled self haters.

I don’t think you fully realise the extend of poverty across Africa, to say that African poverty is not to the extend of Somali poverty shows in depth your lack of research in continental Africa.
Somali life standards are above average if you compare it to subsaharan Africa. infact if studies were done that included Somalia it would embarrass the African countries with peace and governments and western support.

To say that Somalia is doing better than other African countries simply because Somalis are “content”, is no different than saying a starving and shackled North Korean is living a better life than you because of how ignorant they are.
