Canada’s adherence to ratified international conventions comes before any “local appeasement” measures.

It's a Quebec law, not a Canadian one. Big difference. Without federalism, this country would fall apart and no longer exist. It won't collapse because of what Muslim woman wants.

Anyways, when in Rome....

Said this before and will say again. The french are the worst white westerners. Throughout history they been scumbags and will always remain scumbags

Welcome to Canada. You can’t wear your religious clothes, but we can.

I don't understand why people are blaming the government of Canada for this, Quebec has it's own laws, so you can't blame the whole country for something that was done by 1 province.
Quebec is using a law that we call "Laicité", that you can only find in France and Turkey (Previously during Ataturk era)
This muslim lady should move to english speaking Canada where minorities are treated better.

Quebec is a province in Canada. It’s nota different country. The prime minister who is also from Quebec doesn’t want to do anything about this racist law because he will loose votes.

Trudeau is from Ottawa (which is in Ontario not Quebec) and btw Quebec didn't sign the canadian constitution so most canadian politicians will avoid making Quebec angry. They almost gained independance during the 1990's.
It's not Trudeau's role to pass Quebec laws, it's up to the premier of Quebec which is François Legault. Canada is decentralized, so the prime minister doesn't have complete control over every province.

If you want to know more, you should watch this video it helps a lot:

Honestly, Canada is a secular country. Christians and jews dont bring their religons to work, But punjabi men and muslim women are allowed to wear it proudly. Im glad their being consistant. Canada is not and will never be a muslim country so im not sure why ya'll are shocked.

How is this a human rights issue? Quebec wants to make rules of no religious symbols (which a hijab is just that) and it's legal for them to do so within their own lands, just as Muslim countries pressure and force women to dress a certain way.

Shouldn't that cause even more outrage and protests? I barely hear anything coming from the muslim community against the restrictive dress codes in Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Iran. All I hear is either support or silence (which is a form of support).
how is a hijab a religious symbol? It’s a peace of clothing? If a non-muslim white women wore a headscarf, would she be fired? If a man did it?

What if it’s a muslim woman who doesn’t wear hijabs but one day showed up with a head covering, would that count as a religious symbol?

Do you not see how much of a slippery slope that is to classify certain clothing as religious symbols and then banning them? Islam tells women to wear a hijab just like how christianity tells men to wear pants. Why aren’t pants considered religious symbols?

You’re actually a sheep lol.

Using your logic, a cross is just jewelry, not a religious symbol.

a cross? Is just jewelry? How is that using my logic? Cross isn’t even jewelry, it’s a literal symbol lmao. A cross on a necklace or earring, that maybe jewelry, but not a cross by itself. You legit just shot yourself in the foot lmao.

But ok, let’s assume you actually meant a teacher wearing a cross necklace and she tried to say it’s just jewelry, the cross itself is a religious symbol because it is literally used to represent christianity by christians themselves. A hijab is not used as a symbol among muslims or even non-muslims for that matter. Many non-muslims have worn what could be considered a hijab.

Islam doesn’t tell women to wear hijabs either, it just says to cover their body except face and hands. How they choose to cover it is their choice. I’m sure in other religions (mainly christianity and judaism) they are told to cover their bodies as well. Why is that women covering their hair in islam is seen as a religious symbol but men and women of other religions choosing to cover other body parts for the sake of their religion are not seen as religious symbols?
