You can't wear Hijab while teaching in Canada? What kind of backward shit you got going on in Canada?

Quebec's law that bans the wearing of religious symbols by certain government employees deemed to be in positions of authority while at work.
We must respect the law of the land. In Somalia, you would be removed from a classroom for not wearing a hijab... yet no one is crying out about that. Matter of fact, a good number of y'all on here support that.

Why the hypocrisy?

Are you really comparing Somalia and Quebec?

Think about what you wrote for a sec.

Yes, yes I am. This is a Somali forum, so I use relevant examples.

Within the muslim world there are several countries I've heard of that require a female teacher to wear a hijab or some form of "modest" dress code. As a woman, you are required to wear an Abaaya in Saudi Arabia when out in public local or foreigner.

I don't understand why some of y'all have selective outrage.

Well, this is a human rights issue instrictically tied to UN treaties ratified by Canada.

Somalia and other Muslim countries aren’t really known for their human rights. Somalia doesn’t pretend to be a human rights haven.

Canada does.

You see the difference.

How is this a human rights issue? Quebec wants to make rules of no religious symbols (which a hijab is just that) and it's legal for them to do so within their own lands, just as Muslim countries pressure and force women to dress a certain way.

Somalia and other Muslim countries aren’t really known for their human rights.

Shouldn't that cause even more outrage and protests? I barely hear anything coming from the muslim community against the restrictive dress codes in Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Iran. All I hear is either support or silence (which is a form of support).

The hijab ban violates the UN International Convenant of Civil and Political Rights, which Canada ratified in 1976.

In layman’s terms, Canada has actually made this type of “hijab ban” legislation illegal.

I kinda get what he means, abaayo. These gaalo do like grandstanding over the fact that their countries are all about secularism, freedom of expression and speech, human rights and bla bla so it's then incredibly hypocriticalto dictate what some Muslim woman can or cannot wear. Many Muslim countries grandstand about no such thing so there's not really any hypocrisy when they demand modesty whereas these gaalo pride themselves on freedom then do this.

That’s wrong also.

It’s a violation of your rights in a treaty ratified by Canada.

There is a clause in the constitution where provinces can override certain sections. It was included to ensure national unity. It's barely ever used but we must respect Québécois who don't want religious symbols from government workers in public spaces

Canada’s adherence to ratified international conventions comes before any “local appeasement” measures.

Some ppl are weird in the way they justify this. Like if they start politically arresting immigrants, would they say: " well, in your original country you'd being arrested as well, so accept this or f*ck off"
