Taliban follow the Hanafi school of thought in Sunni Islam. For instance, they see the Shia as fellow Muslims, while groups like IS-Khurasan see them as apostates. This is the reason why Taliban protects the Hazara Shia minority in Afghanistan while the IS-Khurasan massacres them nowadays.
