It doesn’t matter, there’ll be an increase in self-governing states/countries in the future so we should optimize it by working with as many as possible.

There was no option to alley with China. As China would always recognise Somaliland as a part of Somalia. It would be difficult for China to do otherwise because of their issues with Taiwan. Somaliland would not accept to be part of Somalia. That is why Taiwan best option.
