  • Apparently also known as suuratu banii israa'iil due to their mentioning in the suura
  • Namesake referring to the first aaya which attests to the israa' (journey in one night to alquds jerusalem) and the micraaj (ascension to the skies/heavens)
  • Thus this suura is makki (revealed before the hijra epoch) and it was the year before the hijra
  • It is interesting because both the quraysh and the jews are admonished and warned in the suura
  • Also the scope of instruction has widened beyond tawxiid and good conduct but not beyond legal principles and rulings
I would like to translate and add commentary on parts i find interesting but it is a whole suura and i have my own occupations so i shall leave you with translation and recitations saa danahayga-na aan raaca. Also want to add that in my opinion just reading the translation text is not sufficient at all when trying to understand a suura because the Quraan is kalaamAllaah his speech so it is best understood in a speech setting. Using language for public speech and using it for writing are two completely different tasks and it shows when you read for example a speech transcript like a book (like Quraan) or speaking out a piece of fiction it does not work as well as if it was designed to be spoken in the first place Like the Quraan. Thats why people say the translations cannot properly capture the beauty of Quraan like when i read translation before on its own i remember i found it very plain and repetitive. Because those qualities that elevate speech are detrimental to a piece of writing. SO i recommend you learn arabic best case or if you do not willing to learn arabic for a forum post then have the recitation in the back ground and translation following the recitation. The criticism of its plainness and repetitivity changes to praises of its clarity and profundity

Use mustafa khataab translation or if you re learning arabic sahiih international. Sh Xuseen qaari recitation starts at aaya 50
