Her family stumbled upon her body while searching for her. Four more of my mother’s neighbors suffered the same fate. My mother states this was more common in Burco than in Hargeisa, due to the heavier governmental presence in Hargeisa. Beledweyne was dealing with a parallel situation with Hargeisa. Faqash officers abusing their powers, illegal imprisonment innocent civilians, mass rapes, late night searches of sleeping familles, looting, abduction of young girls, torture and brutalization. Every wonder about why Xawadle reacted so harshly against the Faqash and their families living in Beledweyne? That’s why.

How could have there been more deaths when majority of Hargeisa and Somaliland’s population hadn’t even returned from the civil war? By 1994, only a couple of Hargeisa’s neighborhoods were repopulated, those who returned were mostly landowners were anxious to see the state of their properties and to protect their land from being encroached on. Many SLanders were still in Ethiopian refugee camps.

Civilians were targeted in their towns when the civil war first broke out, they were targeted as they were fleeing on foot to Ethiopia.

No idea why you’re bringing Abiy and Tigray rebels, but I’m sure they’re doing ghastly things to each other.

Siyad was ahead of his time and peers, ppl didn't see his wisdom during his time, only the future does. All great ppl r called mentally ill or horrible names by their peers in their time, it's nothing new.

I even disagree with ppl who say oh siyad should've transferred power but to who would he transfer? a menguistu backed group? I think he knew deep down if he did transfer it, it would play into menguistu final solution outcome of Somalia to make sure they fight for power as he never wanted rebel groups to sit down and discuss post siyad Somalia.

Whatever they say about siyad the anti siyadist, the second he left siyad, everything after that point to now is all on them and they don't wanna own it and deflect to siyad about their own incompetence. What I tell them no leader post 91 can even wipe the feet of siyad and they all get mad as usual but it's a fact.
