Suppliers in buisness

I am planning to open a company in waqooyi Somalia , I'm specialising in Electrical thus I was wondering on how I would import materials or get in contact with suppliers. For example if I was importing solar panels, explosives, bulldozers , wind turbines etc how would I get them to say Badhan. I was thinking of importing through bosaso port but idk where to start as Somalia has a bad rep.

@LarryThePuntite @Cadmus
I think you guys are good at this.

Professional electricians/carpenters/construction professionals will be in great demand over the next decade, so you chose well.

As for importing your tools of trade, it's mostly a logistical/security dilemma, as Badhan's altitude is high compared to Bosasso.
The roads in Somalia are absolutely horrendous, and narrow with many pot holes, which cause a great deal of problems when transporting something as huge as wind turbines. Wind turbines also require large specialized vehicles, which Somalia doesn't have.

That being said, if you have a good budget, than you can overcome anything ahead of you. Just make sure you do your due diligence before venturing.

Your actual tools of trade can be easily imported through Dubai (smaller equipment,) and I would recommend to lease construction equipment instead of buying new ones, because unless you have spare parts and the expertise to fix it yourself (or your possible associates,) it could interrupt your project deadlines and management flexibility.

That being said, if you're determined, than you can do very well.

This is only my humble opinion and might not constitute the facts on the ground.

I feel like @Bohol might answer this better as he knows the area very well.

May you succeed beyond your imagination brother. I'A.

If you want to become an electricity supplier in Somalia, than look for the thread from a few months ago that @LarryThePuntite contributed to. Very informative.

Don't import bulldozers. There's many within Africa that you can bring in by road for a fraction of the price.

Anyone who owns CAT equipment in Somalia is an asset to the country.

There's many brokers in bosasso and container freight forwarders in Dubai.

When you order something from China the shipping to Somalia is already calculated for you, however many people deal with Somali brokers who give better prices once a shipment leaves Dubai to Somalia.

We are the 2nd largest exporters from the Port of Dubai.

Once your container lands; all you need is a logistics company that moves your load to your town.

Interesting, my uncle is a prominent buisness man in bosaso I might use his connection to import supplies. The electrical systems of Somalia are rudimentary and I might be able to help propel it into an admirable state. In laas Qoray there are public bulldozers bought by the clan for the , failed, construction of a port.

The only problem I have is that the risk of transporting supplies is high especially due to the regional conflicts in the area. I think I might hire some local miltia to help protect the solar panels and the caravans.

You're 18.

Get a red seal ticket and become an electrical journey man. Learn everything about the trade first.

You need money and a group of investors to do this.

Stop wasting my time.

 Start becoming an electrician.
