My grandfather used to go to siyaaros as a kid they used to travel for miles sometimes

a lot of these Sufi sheiks in Somalia are connected and learned from one another

A siyaaro is usually when they hold a ceremony for a sheikh or ancestor usually and make dua for them kinda like this

Not to derail the thread but ive always been fascinated by how common siyaro used to be in somalia. All the tombs and cairns all over the country make it obvious that this practice was also done in the pre-Islamic period. It makes you wonder what did they used to recite or rituals did they preform at these sites.

Sufis are no where near peaceful like people make them out to be but in this case this is a bad example .

They had every right to pick up arms and fight back against Al shabab .
