Yes there’s a lot lol. I’ve met some that work for sick kids doing big things they’re just humble.

Once I start my career you will never see me waste my time online ever again lolz. I understand why they lay low. It’s the most sane thing to do during that stage of your life.

You can just tell from his chain to the clothes he's wearing that his money is long, i'm happy for him wlhi proper inspiration for the rest of us Faraax's

I always tell Somalis to get into IT/Cloud/Web development field etc that's where all the lacaag is i promise you😂

I would prefer if we diversified and entered various industries. Having people with diverse skillsets can benefit our community in the long run.

Tech is too limiting. It’s alright if you want a lucrative and stable career path but ultimately I don’t know how you can use those skills for the community unless you’re innovative.

tech and stem are great fields. laakin we should also support and encourage somalis to aslo get into the trades. we shouldn’t look down into qualified blue collar work. in canada many indians run family construction company businesses and even build their own houses

To be fair me as an Ciidagale man in London, i just want to succeed in the IT field alongside a big booty Mj or Abgaal girl and just disappear from the world inshallah.

Trades is an excellent pathway. Hardworking Latinos become upwardly mobile doing trades in the US. It is remarkable how far it can take you. College isn’t the only way to secure upward mobility. There’s no shame in trades. Unfortunately, Somalis have a cultural stigma against the trades. They see it as beneath them. We need to work on that cultural stigma.

I also want to throw out a suggestion that more of us should pursue law and public health so we can represent and advocate for our own people and our needs. We already have a lot of driven people in these fields but the more the better.

Environmental engineering and anthropology would also be super beneficial to the community.

Trades is a serious opportunity in North America, you can easily make 100k as a plumber in US.

Imagine starting that job as 22 year old, by the time of 40 years old you are set for life.

I haven't seen a successful Somali Xalimo, the ones I have seen have all been models or married to ajnabis like Idris elba , which really doesn't really count for success

There are lots of somalis I know that have MBAs , law degrees and work in consulting, engineering etc but sorry, the women outnumber the men.

There has been this rhetoric on here and twitter lately that somali women aren't doing anything and most successful somalis are men and that is an outright lie. Especially in Toronto. I work on Bay street, and the amount of somali women working white collar vs somali men ratio has got be like 5:1. I even spoke with a russian HR guy at Mckinsey who told me the same, lots of women not much guys. Any body with eyes can see somali women vastly outnumber men in white collar work especially.

Why spread these lies?

Yes women outnumber men but I don’t believe the ratio is 5-1 I’m sorry no community is that imbalanced

The number isnt exact just my observations but the point still stands. The women vastly out number the men in white collar work.
Yeah but I believe the numbers will get more balanced with generation Z

A quick linkedin search will show you a bunch of successful guys in the community it’s all about the field your in most are in tech and engineering
