"Study in the US suggests that same-sex relationships suffer higher levels of domestic violence than heterosexual ones"

"the conclusions of another study this year by the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago - a review of data from four earlier studies, involving 30,000 participants - go further.

"One of our startling findings was that rates of domestic violence among same-sex couples is pretty consistently higher than for opposite sex couples," says Richard Carroll, a psychologist and co-author of the report"

If qaniisiin fight, it's not domestic violence. It's a fair fight.
That word is for men who are abusive to women.

Well at the end of the day homosexual couples are still human.

It is also important to note that homosexual domestic violence is wholly different to heterosexual domestic violence so directly comparing the two with no context really doesn't portray the issue truthfully.

Interesting study nonetheless and hopefully if more studies are published and reviewed supporting this claim the LGBT community can raise awareness for this issue.

Yup I learned this in school. It has to do with the assumption that if both are the same gender, they can take on each other and it’s “equal” vs a heterosexual relationship where a man beating a woman is unacceptable due to current social norms.

"The external stresses on a same-sex relationship include what Carroll describes as the "double closet phenomenon" when victims are reluctant to report abuse because they do not want to be outed to the authorities "

I don't believe this findings. They are disqualifying themselves by this quote above! First of all, minority group cannot have higher domestic violence than Majority group. Statistically, that is an intellectual dishonesty.

Second of all, if u r in the closet, or out side the closet but do not want to report of fear of being judged by the heterosexual "Police" then, how can these statistics be greater ? The math does not add up. Sorry!

Now u can do statistics on the homosexual only group, comparing yearly reported domestic violence & compare it to the previous reported year, that can bring some sort of equanimity in reportage.

What do you mean minority groups cannot have higher domestic violence than majority groups? They’re not comparing values they’re comparing rates. Since it’s a scientific journal the rates have to be statistically significant for it to be even published. Sociology studies usually use p-values and z-scores to establish whether it’s true or not. The only problem with this article is that they put their two cents in and shifted the blame to society rather than the individuals to avoid backlash.
