Dealing with usury is a major sin in Islam which Allaah and his messenger has issued many warnings.

“Those who eat riba will not stand (on Qiyamah) except like that of one beaten by Shaytan leading him to insanity.” (Verse: 2:275)

“Allah’s Messenger curses the one who consumes riba, gives it, records it, and witnesses it.” (Sahih Muslim v. 11, p. 1964)

It's becoming a normal thing for Somalis to take mortgage and student loans (with interests)

:farmajoyaab:

We should try and raise more awareness to our relatives and friends.

What's the alternative?

The European Council of Fiqh declared student loans and mortgage to be permissible due to necessity.

Hypocritical Salafis disgust me. Go put your car away since you pay for car insurance which is haram too. But you'll never do that.

Its not wajiib to get a loan.
I payed for school without a loan. Saved up and got scholarships. Parents pitched in.
Dad bought his properties in cash after saving up for 12 years

You had your parents chip in which gave you a leg up. Not everybody falls into this category.

Used student loans, and now I'm a manager in a multi national corporation. I think I made the right decision.

It's simply financial.

You are responsible for the decisions you make in life. Don't be dumb, and nothing bad will happen.

Ok, Sheikh Abu-Khadijah and the Salafi sheikhs (Birmingham, London) don't want you to be emancipated from their grip, otherwise, you will feel free, fly and settle in the suburbs where schools are better, it is safer for children to grow and you may have the chance to become a better hardworking Muslim for his family. Fewer divorces in the community. That is why @Cauli mentioned a group of Muslim intellectuals weighed the issue carefully and studied from all angles and came to the conclusion that it is "necessity". Do you know the concept of necessity in Islam?

Now, yes, ceeydh/welfare is tax the government collects from all kinds of businesses and all are based on Riba such as alcohol manufacturers, distributors and sellers. Banks and every major institution and business that deals with riba. Brothels, Strip clubs, Casinos, every haram type of business pays taxes comes into your account as welfare payments pays riba for their businesses loans. As long as they pay you, no problem and so is Abu Khadijah and the other unemployed Imams. They can't complain and no questions asked.

I've made a living selling both mortgages, Halal and haram and I would prefer to lock someone on the halal mortgage because it pays better. I wonder when the Muslim is paying more payments on the halal mortgages (interests are called fees and rent) the duration of the mortgage compared to a loan based on fixed or flactuating interest rates/riba, what was the Riba supposedly to address? Exploitative gains via trade and business? Give me a break!!!!

Please send me more halal complaint mortgage clients.

I agree with the opinion that it is a necessity. I understand home ownership and halal mortgage etc Islamic banking is all a matter of making whats necessary work and halal its fine I got nothing against it.

don't claim I said anything
