Also could do with the fact most of the daroods in the west lived in Mogadishu pre 1991 explaining their standard Somali accent or how before the war people lived in different major cities irrespective of their clan

Yes, that's what I mean.

A lot of Majeerteen lived in Mogadishu and other places in the South and that's why you will see this Southern accent in the diaspora. Even Deni has a Southern accent.

There hasn’t really been a back to North migration. Reer Mogadishu MJs went straight to the west and raised their kids speaking the dialect they knew. That’s why most MJs in the west speak like us, even the ones who rep Puntland

Not all Majeerteen fled to the West, a lot moved North-East and Kismaayo, like President Deni and all the other homegrown politicians and businessmen who built Puntland.

I think it was funded by Germany at the time and they stopped funding just like they stopped funding for Galkacyo-Garowe road, it was restarted last year and I think the work is still going, although the project is smaller now than what they announced in Gaas' term.
