Stray cat left kitten in my house. Need advice

Recently we had a few cats come to the backyard and occasionally we fed them.

I developed a good relationship with the mom cat and she seemed to like me

Today she brought her kittens and as she left, she abandoned one of the kittens.

I'll be heading to the adoption center to make sure the kitten gets the vaccinations/microchip/etc it needs.

Now my question is should I take care of him/her?

Keep him/her, cats(and pets)are great preparers for parenthood, it instills patience, responsibility, time management, punctuality and a slew of other needed skills for being an adult, which like the sideview mirror is closer than may appear

Please don’t go to the adoption centre before the mama cat comes back. When cat’s leave their kittens in your home it’s because they believe it is a safe place. She is probably trying to find food for herself and will be back for them soon.

Under no circumstances give them human milk. Have a bowl of water outside for the mama cat when she returns and give maybe give her one can of cat food if you can buy one. After she’s fed and rested then I would bring the newborn kittens and mama cat to the shelter. If the mama cat is being aggressive and wonDon’t worry and just say you found them. They will probably get adopted after 2-4 weeks of staying at the animal shelter after they grow a bit.


“Kittens under 4 weeks of age cannot eat solid food, whether it's dry or canned. They can drink their mother's milk to get the nutrients they need. The kitten will rely on you to survive if their mother isn't around. You can feed your newborn kitten a nutritional substitute that's called kitten milk replacer”.

Kittens are actually 6-8 weeks old and the mom visits us every day

In that case I would bring them to the shelter with the mama cat so they can get their vaccinations and check ups. You have to be careful though because if you say you want to keep the cats you will have to pay all the fees which depending on how many kittens there are will be a few hundred dollars. Say you found them and they’ve stayed with you for a few days. I never condone lying but in this case if you say they have been with you for a number of weeks the animal shelter will assume you have taken responsibility and ownership.

Update

Took the kitten to a vet and is in excellent shape.

She's 7 weeks old. Decided to name her Luna.

Shes also born April 20 🤣 and she can eat wet food .

Thanks again for all the help guys.
