SSpot needs to learn about South Africa

It seems evident that a lot of people in SSpot have unfounded opinions on South Africa.

I want to open a discussion about these two apartheid-era legislation and how it affected how South African Madow are today (in terms of how they govern and handle Somalis).

1. Bantu Education Act
2. Population Registration Act

and if you have time...

3. Group Areas Act

I think these three laws by the white man clearly affected the state of South African Bantus today.

Law #1 seems positive . What happened?

What is the use of teaching the Bantu child mathematics when it cannot use it in practice? That is quite absurd. Education must train people in accordance with their opportunities in life.

TLDR: It was a law that placed the education of all Black people under the apartheid government. It eliminated Math, Sciences and other useful classes with tribal history and manual labour classes. It took away their right to education and replaced it with lessons on how to serve the Whites.

do you live in s africa or you lived there before

Nah but I spent quite a fair bit of study on it.

Mandela himself noted that the decades of mental and educational oppression of Blacks in SA would probably never get erased.

South Africa was lucky that Mandela's generation took power in '94 and not the Apartheid generation (like today).

Thats fucked up. I can understand where the anger of the Bantus came from

What was worse was that they gave other African nations "Honorary White status" when they visited the nation. It was designed to pit African against African and can explain the anger they had.

A lot of African nations fell for this and went to South Africa without any remorse.

but today they have the power, its been 22yrs since mandela first came to the world stage, Africans who were independent for last 60yrs are by in large not doin better.
the problem in Africa is tribalism and religious sectarianism, corruption being second. don't look further than that.

Always Lit

Everybody lies, which ones are tolerable??

what are u saying?

By far one of the most enlightening posts I’ve seen in this forum. I just read a part ...will read the rest later. Like most group behavior you have to consider context and history.

What I am saying is that the apartheid government used to entice Blacks in other African countries with “Honourary White” status when they visited apartheid South Africa.

This allowed them to have the privileges of the white man but left Bantus resentful of their African brothers.

The generation in power didn’t receive any instruction apart from menial work and tribalism.

Mandela himself said that the generation after him was inexplicably destroyed by Apartheid.

We have to understand Apartheid wasn’t just common segregation but also a mindset indoctrinated by Afrikaners to precision.

Its the power house of Africa in terms of economy and would've atleast pulled 70% of blacks from poverty.but alas how could they do it being African/black.
